On 20th November, 1914, the 2nd Yorkshire battalion of 21 Brigade, 7th Division moved into the front line trenches at Fleurbaix, just to the south of Armentières, for a three day tour. The battalion diary recorded that the trenches here were very quiet and that ‘the only source of annoyance were snipers’. So perhaps it was a sniper that took the life of Francis Page on 22nd November. Very annoying! |
